Who We Are
Corporate Social Responsibility
AFCOM uses an innovative, technology focused approach to reach and educate our employee and our communities especially our youths.
Our Employees – Professional and Personal Development
As the saying goes “charity begins at home”. We embrace this saying and strive to create a positive impact on our employees by supporting their personal and professional growth.
Afcom provides frequent technical training classes to ensure the continual development of skills for our technical staff and monthly management and customer service training to our customer relations team. We encourage our employees to further their education and make available financial assistance for those who wish to further their education.
In partnership with STM Foundation, we currently operate 16 fully equipped and staffed computer training labs powered with high speed internet across Freetown and the Northern Provinces including Government Secondary for Boys, Magburaka, Fourah Bay College, Albert Academy Secondary School, Annie Walsh Memorial School, Junior Kolenten in Kambia, Port Loko Teachers College and University of Makeni. The program will be extended to cover 60 more schools and will include coverage of the South and East end of the country.
Our main goal is to provide free computer literacy program to a wide universe of people who are without access with special concentration on the youths of Sierra Leone. These computer labs are open to all and designed to:
- Teach to individuals the basics of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
- Teach youths how to prepare CVs and prepare for job interviews
- Educating communities on social issues: We recently joined forces with UNFPA and the Ministry of Health to use our computer labs to help promote the initiative of the reduction of teenage pregnancy
- Browsing and navigating through the internet: To date, Afcom has partnered up with organizations such as STM Foundation, the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Health, and UNFPA to further fulfill our goal of converting every person within our reach into a computer literate individual as well as educatinig and inspiring people to be technologically inclined.
